Our School

East Camden Middle School is named after the section of Camden in which it is built. Erected in 1968, ECMS is located at 3064 Stevens Street, nestled between Woodrow Wilson High, and McGraw Elementary Schools.

The student population is approximately seven hundred, educating students in grades five through eight. The sending neighborhood schools consists of Cramer, McGraw, and Davis Elementary Schools.

As an America's Choice school our students follow fully aligned standards, assessments, curriculum materials and instructional methods, which are all crafted to work smoothly to get students to high standards. We stress core academic performance standards with a close analysis of student data, honing in on deficiencies. Our school has a Literacy and a Mathematics Coach who provide teachers with professional development training built around research-based instructional practices.

America's Choice School Design's performance standards complement and extend the standards that the State of New Jersey has developed. An emphasis on literacy and mathematics permeates all curricular areas and content materials.

East Camden students have access to two mobile laptop labs with wireless Internet, a 30-computer enrichment lab, an instructional resource room, a School Based Youth Services Center and a Media Center with writing/research areas and computer workstations. The East Camden Media Center is also open during the summer for student and parental usage.
