Veterans Memorial Middle School was built in 1938,  at the beginning of World War II, adjacent to the park that bears the same name. The park was built as a memorial to the men and women from the community who served in the war and made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.  The school has been a vital part of the community, serving a diverse population and maintaining a commitment to excellence.

Mission Statement

Veterans Memorial Middle School seeks  to empower its students to become vibrant and enthusiastic learners, who will make a positive contribution to our community and to society.  We have a vision of high achievement for our youth.  We believe in a well balanced person, who works to their full potential and maintains a positive self image.

Staff, parents and community members, accept the challenge of fostering positive values and human dignity in our children.  Our students will be urged and encouraged to be critical thinkers, who will be able to make an impact on their environment.  We want our young adults to continue on their road of academic mastery and be able to apply learned skills to practical situations.  We want our students to reach for excellence in all subject areas, with an increased involvement in the area of Fine Arts.

We, the school community will work together to create an atmosphere where every child will learn and work towards his/her potential and respect the differences in others and their cultures.
