Mission Statement
The goal of school health services is to strengthen and assist (facilitate) the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of students and staff.

Home Instruction
In the event that a student is unable to attend school due to health related conditions, a home instruction program will be provided. Home Instruction is processed in Health Services and the teaching services are provided through the Guidance Department.

For information on Home Instruction, contact Health Services or the school nurse at your child’s school.

Immunizations
The State of New Jersey, Department of Health and Senior Services has specific immunization requirements for students attending schools in New Jersey. These requirements are reviewed and revised as needed to protect children from infectious communicable diseases.

Emergency notifications
In the case of emergency or illness, the School Nurse will contact the parent or an individual designated by the parent for emergency notification. The school will provide parents with white emergency cards to provide addresses and telephone numbers. It is important to notify the school when you change your emergency information.

Medical needs of children
Parents are required to complete a blue Medical Permission Form School Health Services card when they register their child for school. This card gives the school nurse permission to treat the child in the event of an incident or an accident. The card also indicates what hospital to take the child in the event of a major emergency if the parent cannot be contacted.

This card also gives the nurse permission to complete the New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services mandated physical assessments, such as vision and hearing screenings.

In the event of a medical emergency, the school nurse will use the emergency contact information to notify the parent of the child's illness or emergency.

Sports Physical Examinations can be provided to our students for sports participation. The Sports Physical permission form must be filled out and signed by the parent before the physical can be completed.
