Mission Statement
Our Professional Development program provides ongoing professional growth opportunities for all Board employees, thereby creating an educational environment of excellence within all the district's schools. It is the goal of the department to ensure a quality education for all the children facilitated by skilled, professional educators and supported by school personnel at all levels. The various categories of assistance impacts on classroom instructional issues, leadership training, support staff training, and the developing needs of the educational community.

District Professional Development Goals
  • To improve curriculum and instruction in the areas of reading, writing, math and science for all district students, through the development of teacher knowledge and the use of effective instructional strategies that will enhance students' mastery of the Core Curriculum Content Standards;
  • To integrate technology into the curriculum for the improved integration and management of the curricula, enhanced student motivation, and more effective recording of student data;
  • To improve the classroom environment through the use of effective behavior modification techniques that address student attendance, attitudes, and achievement;
  • To improve collaborative, collegial interaction for enhanced communication among staff.;
  • To improve the school environment and increase community involvement in order to strengthen home/school relationships and provide safety and security for both students and staff; and
  • To develop and implement district/school professional development opportunities for staff that address cultural and linguistic diversity which will lead to an increased sensitivity and awareness of student differences and learning styles.
