Coronavirus Information

April 3, 2020

Dear Camden City School District Families and Community Partners:

As we enter into our third week of remote learning, I wanted to share several critical updates with our students, families, and community so we are all prepared for the days and weeks ahead. Also, I want to take this moment to stress the importance of social distancing practices, especially among our students. Staying home is the best strategy to reduce the spread of COVID-19. .

Although our school buildings are closed and how we learn will look different, it doesn’t change our district’s mission of “Putting Students First”. We are committed to ensuring our students have access to the resources they need to be successful. We will get through this together.

Over the last several days, we have heard from many families and community members on a variety of topics. We have compiled them here in the Frequently Asked Questions. However, should you have additional questions that are not captured in the Frequently Asked Questions, please contact the District’s Solution Center at 856-966-2507.

On a positive note, our District has secured funding to purchase laptops for students in grades K-12 to support remote learning. More information on laptop distribution will be shared in the coming weeks.

COVID-19 Update & School Closing

  • Like all New Jersey school districts, we have been closely monitoring the news regarding the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). In compliance with Governor Murphy’s current executive orders (Order #104 and #107), signed in March 2020, all “public, private, and parochial preschool program premises, and elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools, shall remain closed to students as long as this Order remains in effect.”  This means all schools will remain closed until otherwise directed by the Governor.

Spring Break

  • The District is scheduled to recognize spring break from April 10-17, 2020. In a previous communication, we stated meals would not be distributed during the break. I am pleased to share that students will continue to have access to meals, breakfast and lunch, while the district is closed for spring break.
