Dear Camden City School District Parents, Staff & School Community,

On behalf of the district, I am excited to welcome our students back to school for the 2019-20 school year!

Our district is committed to Putting Students FirstWith this as our mantra, we remain driven to excel and to capitalize on the resources and the dedicated professionals that deliver the programs and services our students and community deserve. As we begin the new year, we are making several revisions to our strategic plan in order to create a refined focus on our vision: that all Camden students attending a high-quality school where they are valuedchallenged, and prepared for college and careers that positively impact their community and the world. I plan to share these updates with you in the coming months.

Our school principals have communicated school opening information for you using various modes of communication; through Facebook, mailed letters home, video messages, and community events,  Below, we’ve highlighted a few important items as we prepare to return to school .

·         Updated Reassessment Practices, Grades K-12
The District will be implementing a consistent reassessment practice across both the family schools and high schools this year.  The goals of this uniform practice is to improve understanding of new material; to increase confidence as students progress toward their individual goals; to assist students with embracing that mistakes present an opportunity for growth; and, to build upon important skills and accountability for one’s own learning.  For more information on our assessment calendar, click HERE.

·         School Safety & Trauma Response Care
School safety continues to be a top priority for our district. This year we are excited to continue expanding our efforts and to have more trained first responders in each school, linked to our district-wide Trauma Response Care Team. Through our Student Supports department and School Supports division, we’ve built even stronger partnerships with School Based Youth Services and the Traumatic Loss Coalition in Camden County, which now ensures we’re better prepared to prevent traumatic events, and to support our children and families through them when they happen. We also continue to have strong support from Mayor Frank Moran, City Council President Curtis Jenkins, CCPD Chief Joseph Wysocki, Camden Fire Chief Mike Harper, and other valued stakeholders and community partners. As always, we appreciate your patience and support while we work hard to keep everyone in our schools safe.

In closing, I want to wish our students, faculty, staff, and parents a wonderful 2019-20 school year! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at your convenience.
